Window Cleaning in Somerville, MA

Somerville: Dense, Vertical and Full of Character

Somerville is one of the most densely built communities in New England, and its housing reflects a century and a half of growth on a handful of hills. Triple-deckers climb Winter Hill, Spring Hill and Prospect Hill, each with a tower of porches on the front and a flat-topped facade. Victorian Italianates and mansard-roofed cottages fill side streets near Union Square and Ten Hills. Converted condos and new mid-rise buildings cluster around Davis Square, Assembly Row and the stops of the Green Line Extension. Exterior cleaning in Somerville, MA means working up, not out.

That vertical layout calls for the right tools and a crew comfortable with height and tight spaces. Driveways are narrow, side yards may be barely wide enough for a ladder, and parking is at a premium. We plan each visit so equipment fits, neighbors are not inconvenienced, and the work gets done efficiently.

Window Washing Three Stories Up

Triple-deckers and multi-unit buildings often have dozens of windows, some opening onto porches and others high above a side alley. Whether you own one condo or the whole building, residential window cleaning from Busy Bee handles the glass from both sides. Third-floor panes over an alley are reached with telescoping carbon poles that pump deionized water to a bristle head, so nothing is left behind to spot, and ladders come out where the footing allows. Condo associations can coordinate a whole-building visit so every unit benefits at once. Shopkeepers in Ball Square, Teele Square and Magoun Square lean on our commercial window cleaning to keep display glass inviting for passing foot traffic.

Roofs, Gutters and Street Trees

Somerville's street trees soften its dense blocks, but they also drop leaves, seeds and small twigs onto roofs and into gutters. Many triple-deckers have low-pitch roofs draining to gutters at the front and back, and when those clog, water spills onto porches stacked one above another. With gutter cleaning, those troughs get emptied by gloved hand and every leader is hosed out. A gutter yanked loose by an icicle or a downspout flattened by a snowbank is a job for our downspout and gutter repair team, and owners juggling several units often like gutter guards for cutting down return trips.

Porches, Siding and Screens

Three levels of porch floor gather grit fast, and the clapboard facing a neighbor only four feet away rarely sees sun, so it goes green. A low-pressure, solution-based rinse from our power washing crew handles the walls, while concrete stoops and brick walks get a firmer stream. City dust clogs porch screens, which we wash or rescreen through screen cleaning and repairs, and the light beside each unit door can be cleared of bugs and haze via exterior lamp cleaning.
